Leading into one of his last games as Manchester United’s interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy has delivered a major injury update for the squad.
United are set to face PAOK tonight at Old Trafford in the Europa League. The Red Devils are yet to record a win in Europe this campaign, having played out three draws leaving them in 21st place.
Now, ahead of their next fixture, van Nistelrooy’s options for selection have received a boost.
Speaking to United’s official website, the Dutch manager has confirmed that Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen and Antony are all available for the PAOK match having returned to team training.
Eriksen was all set to feature in van Nistelrooy’s opening match in charge, however had to pull out only hours before kick-off due to a “knock”.
Mount has been out the longest thanks to a head injury in United’s 3-0 loss to Spurs back in September, whilst Antony sprained his ankle against Fenerbahce.
The club received another boost with Leny Yoro having returned to team training as well, marking the next step on his road to recovery.
When asked about Yoro’s return, Ruud van Nistelrooy commented: “That’s a good sign.”
He continued: “He had a long recovery, he has been back with the team for the first time, he is not ready for games but it’s a good sign. He had a reception from the rest of the team as well.”
United’s match up with PAOK tonight marks his penultimate game in charge, as Ruben Amorim will be starting at Old Trafford on Monday 11th November, in only four days time.
