Today is the day that Ruben Amorim arrives to start his duties as the new head coach of Manchester United, relieving Ruud van Nistelrooy of his interim role.
The legendary striker has been holding the fort at Old Trafford, however, is now departing the club.
The former Dutch international joined United in the summer as part of Erik ten Hag’s reformed coaching team. However, when ten Hag was sacked, van Nistelrooy was selected to lead the team for the short-term.
His run as interim manager has been incredibly successful, with him stepping down after a four game unbeaten run.
In this time, van Nistelrooy has turned the team around, getting three wins and a draw, scoring 11 goals.
However, with Amorim arriving at Old Trafford today to start his new role, van Nistelrooy’s tenure is over.

Further to this, Amorim has brought most of his backroom staff with him, meaning that the future of van Nistelrooy and some other coaches has been uncertain.
Manchester United’s statement on Ruud van Nistelrooy
However, United have now confirmed that following talks with Amorim, Ruud van Nistelrooy and three other first-team coaches have now left the club
The statement read: “Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club. Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach.”
It continued: “Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend.
“We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.
“Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also departed and we wish them all well for the future.
“We will confirm the full men’s first team coaching composition in due course.”
Much like van Nistelrooy, Rene Hake and Jelle ten Rouwelaar also joined in the summer to support Erik ten Hag in turning the club around.
