This year, Manchester United have undergone an intense amount of changes with regard to their coaching staff, with the biggest shift coming this week.
Over the summer, United’s executive board assembled a fresh coaching team to support Erik ten Hag as he entered the new season. However, with news of Ten Hag’s dismissal on Monday, newly appointed assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has now stepped up to serve as interim manager at Old Trafford.
His first game at the helm brought exciting results, with United securing a dominant 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.
Van Nistelrooy’s debut has sparked optimism, and fans are eager to see how his leadership will shape United’s performances in the coming weeks.
With this extended time in charge, he has an opportunity to make a notable impact on the team’s momentum and morale.
Meanwhile, United’s board are working to finalise the appointment of Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon. Sir Dave Brailsford has recently commented the deal is done, with the club paying Amorim’s £8.3 million release clause.
However, Sporting has yet to confirm the move, and no official statements have been released.
BBC Sport have reported that Amorim is expected to remain with Sporting through to the November international break, as they face two major fixtures—a Champions League clash against Manchester City and a Liga Portugal matchup with Braga, Amorim’s former club.
The end of the Ruud van Nistelrooy reign revealed
If all goes as planned, Amorim would join United by 24th November, in time for their fixture against Ipswich Town, bringing along six key members of his Sporting backroom team.
In the meantime, Van Nistelrooy will guide United through several crucial games. With his impressive start and strong connection to the club, he has already given fans reason for optimism.
His extended role could prove pivotal as United navigates this transition, setting a promising stage for the team’s future.
