Russia Wants To Keep Attacking Ukraine From Black Sea – Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged the international community to pressure Russia into an “unconditional ceasefire” that will bring to an end to the war between both countries.

Zelenskyy made this call in a statement released on X, stating that Russian forces launched a wave of missile attacks on Ukraine from the Black Sea.

According to him, Russia has continued to manipulate diplomatic efforts while continuing its military aggression against Ukraine.

“Today’s Russian attack included missiles launched from the waters of the Black Sea,” Zelenskyy said,

“This is one of the reasons why Russia is distorting diplomacy, why it is refusing to agree to an unconditional ceasefire: they want to preserve their ability to strike our cities and ports from the sea,” he stated.

According to the Ukrainian leader, international partners are well aware of the specific Russian naval vessels involved and their launch locations.

Recall that the U.S. government, under President Donald Trump on March 25, mediated a deal between Russia and Ukraine that will ensure safe navigation and halt military strikes on commercial vessels in the Black Sea.

However, Zelenskyy emphasised that a ceasefire at sea is not merely about allowing safe navigation or the export of food supplies, “it is about restoring security and advancing toward peace.”

He blamed Russian President, Vladimir Putin, for the ongoing war and called for a stronger force against Russia.

“Putin does not want to end the war — he is looking for ways to preserve the option of reigniting it at any moment, with even greater force,” he said.

Zelenskyy, therefore called on global leaders to maintain and intensify all forms of pressure on the Kremlin, from military aid to sanctions.

“Any conversation with Moscow must leave no opportunity to kill,” he said, warning against any compromise that would allow Russia to continue its aggression under the guise of diplomacy,” he said.

Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine has already agreed to the U.S. proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire and urged both the U.S. and European allies to act swiftly and decisively in pursuit of peace.

“If there is a ceasefire, it must be unconditional, one that does not allow for the destruction of life,” he stated.
