Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has expressed his readiness to rebuild relations with President Donald Trump’s administration.
Putin made this known on Monday, during a televised meeting of the Russian Security Council, confirming recent statements by Trump and his team, on their interest in restoring direct communication with Moscow and preventing global conflict.
“We welcome this approach and congratulate the elected president of the United States on assuming office,” Putin said.
“I want to stress that Russia has never turned away from dialogue and has always been open to constructive cooperation with any American administration.”
According to Putin, Russia is prepared to engage with the U.S. on an equal and mutually respectful basis, acknowledging the vital roles both nations play in addressing key global issues, including strategic stability and security.
Speaking on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Putin reiterated Russia’s readiness to discuss a resolution with the new U.S. leadership.
“We are ready to engage in discussions with the new administration regarding the Ukrainian conflict,” he said.
