RULAAC commends Gov Soludo’s fight against crime, insecurity in Anambra

The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC), has lauded governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s effort in the fight against crime and insecurity in Anambra State.

The commendation was made by the executive directive of RULAAC, Mr. Okechukwu Nwanguma, during a one-day stakeholder meeting, organized by the Anambra Police Stakeholders Partnership Forum (PSPF) and facilitated by RULAAC, with support from the Rule of Law and Anticorruption RoLAC 2 Programme, held in Awka, on Wednesday.

He said that the newly homeland security law established by governor Soludo to tackle crime and insecurity in the State was a welcome development, urging every Anambra resident to support the effort.

Speaking further, Nwanguma emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of respect for human rights, enhancing accountability, and promoting effective criminal justice delivery.

He highlighted the achievements of the PSPF, established in 2019, in promoting professional standards within the Anambra State Police Command and resolving complaints against police officers ¹.

According to him, the meeting aimed to strengthen partnerships among stakeholders, increase community awareness, and improve perceptions of police accountability.

*Effective police complaint mechanisms were identified as crucial for promoting accountability, transparency, and trust in law enforcement.

“I commended Governor Soludo for enacting the new Anambra State Homeland Security Law, 2025, which establishes a complementary security provider and launches initiatives targeting atrocity insecurity.

The RULAAC boss urged participants to engage actively in discussions, sharing experiences, feedback, and ideas to work collectively towards a more just and accountable criminal justice system in Anambra State and beyond.

Some participants in their various contributions, urged the advocacy body to extend the meeting to the grassroot.

It was gathered that the meeting with the theme; “Strengthening Stakeholding and partnership in promoting human rights (Law enforcement accountability and effective criminal justice administration in Anambra State), brought together esteemed guests including the state Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, Commissioner for Justice, Prof Silver Ifejime, Traditional rulers, members of the media, and partners in justice.
