Ruben Amorim will join Manchester United at Carrington on Monday, after Ruud van Nistelrooy takes charge of his final game against Leicester tomorrow.
The Portuguese manager is in an unenviable position and will have to claw United back from one of their worst starts to a Premier League season ever.
The Red Devils sit 13th in the table after 10 games with a woeful minus three goal difference.
However, Amorim may not be able to strengthen his squad as soon as he may like to, with a club insider revealing United’s immediate transfer plans.

Financial Issues
Former Chief Scout Mick Brown explained that sacking Erik ten Hag would have reduced United’s future transfer budget.
It cost around £17million in compensation money to let go of the Dutchman last month, as his contract still had almost two years remanining on it.
‘The club would have made him aware of what he’ll be able to spend,’ Brown said to Football Insider.
‘They spent a lot of money getting the manager in and getting Ten Hag out.
‘From what I’ve heard, there’s not a lot of money left to spend on players.’
He went on to note that United narrowly avoided Premier League Profit and Sustainability (PSR) breaches last summer.
To splash money on new signings in January would be an irresponsible financial decision and could land the club in big trouble.
‘On top of that, there’s the profit and sustainability situation which we know United have struggled with,’ he said.
‘They spent big in the summer and they left them with not much money at the end of the window.’
Academy Talent
Brown explained that Amorim will, therefore, have to look to Carrington’s talents to provide depth in his squad.
United’s academy is not short of superstars, with the likes of Chido Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone already making big impressions after their summer moves.
‘The board will expect that they’ve appointed a top-line coach who can coach the players that are already available to him.
‘That includes helping the younger lads to develop and helping some of the experienced ones turn in more consistent performances,’ he said.

Ruben Amorim Next Summer Plans
Ultimately, Amorim may have to wait until next summer to bring new additions in.
For now, he must work with the squad he will inherit from Ten Hag and managers before.
‘It’ll be interesting to see how Ruben Amorim approaches things and works with the players he’s got.
‘He’ll be given time to assess the squad, then in the summer funds will become available and he can make the changes he feels need to be made,’ Brown said.
