Ruben Amorim saw his side secure back-to-back wins with victory in Bucharest on Thursday.
Manchester United beat Fulham 1-0 last weekend before facing FCSB in the Europa League.
The Red Devils eased past the Romanian side, winning 2-0 at the National Arena.
Diogo Dalot opened the scoring before Kobbie Mainoo sealed the win for United.
The result put United one point behind Athletic Club and Lazio in the group.
UEFA’s new league phase format saw United finish third with five wins and three draws.
They could now face AZ Alkmaar, Midtjylland, Real Sociedad, or Galatasaray in the next round.

Under Ruben Amorim, United have shown more consistency in Europe than in the Premier League.
United picked up three Europa League draws under Erik ten Hag before his sacking.
Ruud van Nistelrooy won one match before Amorim led them to four more victories.
Alejandro Garnacho made a huge impact after coming off the bench at half-time.
He assisted Kobbie Mainoo’s goal and nearly scored himself, hitting the post.
The 20-year-old’s future remains uncertain amid links to a move away from United.
Napoli and Chelsea have both shown interest in signing him before the window closes.
Owen Hargreaves believes selling Garnacho would be a huge mistake for United.

When asked if he was concerned about a sale, he told TNT Sports: “Big time.”
“They might need the money to get other players in to suit the manager’s formation.”
“But you’d like to think you’d keep these brilliant, young players at the football club.”
After the game, Hargreaves added: “Alejandro Garnacho made a huge difference, it was a great impact from the subs.”
“He was brilliant when he came on.”
Garnacho is under contract at United until 2028 but remains a key transfer target.
The Red Devils may consider a sale to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
It remains to be seen if he will leave before the transfer window shuts on 3rd February.
