Over the last week it’s been revealed that despite Chelsea’s obligation to buy Jadon Sancho in their current loan deal, the winger could be headed back to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

On deadline day last summer, Chelsea secured a loan deal with Manchester United for Sancho to head to Stamford Bridge for the season.

Included in the deal was an obligation to buy for £25 million at the end of the season providing Chelsea finish above 14th place in the Premier League.

With the London-based club currently sitting in fourth place, the conditions for the permanent move appear to be in place, however Chelsea are now looking at pulling out of the deal.

Sancho has only registered two goals and six assists for Chelsea, with Enzo Maresca not seeing this as a good enough delivery to be a part of his long term plans.

As such, Chelsea are looking at accepting the significant penalty for pulling out of the deal, just to see Sancho head back to United.

Ruben Amorim gets final say on Jadon Sancho

Now, Rob Dawson of ESPN has reported that United are looking to leave the fate of Sancho’s future in Ruben Amorim’s hands.

It’s understood that the United hierarchy are happy to follow Amorim’s lead on if Sancho would fit into his squad or if the manager would want rid of him, much like Erik ten Hag did.

However, despite the recent reports of Chelsea looking to abandon the deal, Dawson claims this would be an unlikely outcome.

With Sancho’s contract in place until 2026, if he does return to United, the summer would be their last chance to offload the winger before he would be eligible for a pre-contract agreement next January, lining up a free transfer.
