Ruben Amorim interested in signing Sporting Lisbon winger

Manchester United’s struggles on the wing have been a recurring issue this season.

Marcus Rashford and Antony are both linked with summer departures as their time at the clubs looks to be coming to an end.

Injuries have further exposed their weaknesses, with Amad Diallo’s absence leaving the right wing particularly vulnerable.

The lack of consistent attacking width has hurt United’s ability to break down low blocks.

Despite these adjustments, the team has often looked disjointed in the final third, lacking a direct threat from the wide areas.

With the club in desperate need of reinforcements, a familiar name has emerged as a potential solution.

According to the Mirror, Ruben Amorim is keen on signing Francisco Trincao from Sporting Lisbon this summer.

The 25-year-old winger has been in superb form, registering 15 goals and 9 assists across 43 appearances in all competitions.

His contract with Sporting runs until June 2026, but United are reportedly considering a £30 million move to bring him to Old Trafford.

Barcelona still hold a buy-back clause for Francisco Trincao, while Arsenal and Newcastle United are also monitoring the situation.

However, Amorim, who previously coached the Portuguese international, could use his influence to secure the deal.

The United boss is still searching for his strongest starting XI and is expected to bring in players who fit his tactical vision.

Trincao’s versatility makes him an attractive option, as he can operate on the right wing or play centrally as a second striker.

He has impressed for both club and country, recently scoring twice for Portugal in their victory over Denmark to seal a spot in the Nations League semi-finals.

His work rate and defensive contributions also align well with Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

The former Barcelona man excels in one-on-one situations and is not afraid to take on defenders.

Francisco Trincao’s ability to press aggressively and win duels makes him a well-rounded attacking option.

United will need to act fast, though, as competition from other clubs could complicate negotiations.
