Ruben Amorim has identified a transfer target that Erik ten Hag sold during his tenure at Manchester United.
The Portuguese manager has reportedly already had some input in United’s transfer business.
He wants to bring three players with him from Sporting to Old Trafford – Marcus Edwards, Goncalo Inacio and Pedro Goncalves.
During Ten Hag’s reign, United spent over £500million on transfer arrivals, while only generating £150m in departures.
Now, Ruben Amorim has his eyes on a former United player who was sold by the Dutchman last summer.

According to GIVEMESPORT, the 39-year-old has been watching left back Alvaro Carreras closely.
Despite never making his senior debut for the Red Devils, the club have a buy-back clause of £16m on Carreras.
After joining United in 2020, the Spaniard had successful career in their academy but was never given an opportunity in the first team by Ten Hag.
In 2022, he was named United’s Under-23 Player of the Year, but spent the next two seasons on loan.
Carreras was at Preston North End during the 2022-23 campaign, then Granada and Benfica the year after.
In 2024, Benfica exercised his £5m release clause, signing him until 2029.

Now, the 21-year-old has become their starting left back this season and has drawn interest from other European clubs.
He is a naturally attacking full back and can even play as a left midfielder.
Carreras would fit perfectly into Ruben Amorim’s system, who prefers to play with two wing backs and three centre backs.
With this in mind, and Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malcia’s injury seemingly never-ending injury issues, he would be a suitable signing for United.
