Manchester United have officially parted ways with Erik ten Hag after two years, now looking to Ruben Amorim as his successor.
The Dutchman was notified of his termination this morning after being invited to Carrington for a meeting with the executives. This comes after United’s extremely poor run of results, with the United bosses standing by ten Hag on two occasions, even extending his contract and making £200 million worth of transfers this summer.
Ultimately, with United sitting in 14th in the Premier League after losing to West Ham United, and 21st in the Europa League, The Red Devils need someone new in charge to save the club.
Whilst Ruud van Nistelrooy has stepped up in ten Hag’s wake, this is only as an interim placement until someone permanent can be hired.

Enter Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese manager is one of Europe’s hottest management prospects, having won seven trophies with Sporting in four years.
United are keen for Amorim to take over at Old Trafford, with rivals Manchester City also viewing him as a successor to Pep Guardiola.
Manchester United look to Ruben Amorim
It’s been reported that Amorim has verbally agreed to join United. The Red Devils are working with Sporing to finalise a deal and agree on the compensation fee for him moving clubs.
However, new information has emerged which can save INEOS £8.3 million in hiring Amorim.
Reports from Portugal claim that Amorim’s contract has a release clause built in. The reported value comes in at £25 million for any other Portuguese club and £16.6 million for clubs outside of Portugal. However, these figures contradict recent reports claiming that his release clause is £8.3 million.
In a weird, and fortunate twist of events, both valuations are actually correct.
Portuguese outlet A Bola, as per Sport Witness, have reported that United have a special discounted rate. The discount comes to a total of £8.3 million, cutting the total release clause fee in half.
The Red Devils are one of seven clubs specified to be a reduced rate, including Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool. The remaining four clubs are some of Europe’s elites; Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
This lucky clause in Amorim’s contract shows his desire to go on to manage the top teams in Europe, with INEOS looking to capitalise on the discount.
