Manchester United’s head coach Ruben Amorim has just given a huge update on Mason Mount’s injury which saw him taken off against Manchester City.
Prior to Manchester United’s Carabao Cup Quarter-Final with Tottenham, Amorim announced that Mount would not be featuring, commenting a very simple: “Mason Mount is not available, he has an injury.”
Unfortunately for Mount, this is just another in a long line of injuries which has seen the midfielder side-lined since moving to Old Trafford in 2023.
Last November saw Mount sustain a calf injury, ruling him out for four months until March, whilst he picked up a hamstring injury in the third game of this season, ruling him out once more.
Upon his return, Mount sustained a head injury against Tottenham, side-lining him again for a further seven games.
Since then with Amorim now in charge, the Portuguese manager has been easing him into the squad. However, after only 14 minutes against Manchester City, Mount was taken off the pitch once more.
Whilst we are yet to have a confirmation of the injury itself, Amorim has now given an update on the severity of the injury with how long it will be until we see him on the pitch again.

Ruben Amorim provides an update on Mason Mount
Speaking after United’s 4-3 loss to Spurs, Amorim gave an update on the situation, commenting: “Several weeks, I don’t know the exact date but it is going to be for a long [time] and that’s it. It’s part of football and you continue.”
When Amorim was asked if Mount is injury prone, given the extent of his time in the United treatment room, Amorim responded, whilst expertly deflecting the suggestion.
Speaking positively, Amorim commented: “That is not my department. What I can do is to help Mount, to teach him how to play our game. When he’s recovering, try to use that time for him to think about different things. The worst part is that we don’t have time to train like we should do when you are recovering from a lot of injuries.”
