The Portuguese kept his cards close to his chest and refused to reveal any information regarding the matter.
‘I was already expecting this question and obviously I’m not going to talk about the future, because otherwise I’ll always have to comment.
‘I’m very proud to be Sporting coach, that’s all,’ he said.
Ruben Amorim has been linked with a move to both sides of Manchetser, with City also interested in the 39-year-old.
United’s rivals are thought to be eyeing him up as a potential long-term replacement for Pep Guardiola.
Sporting’s club president Frederico Varandas spoke about the speculation surrounding his manager last week.

‘I’ve been hearing this question for over four years,’ he said.
‘It is a fact that Ruben Amorim has a contract with Sporting until 2026. And, today, it’s a fact that Hugo Viana will be the sporting director of Manchester City next year.
‘For me, that’s not an issue. I only live off what I can control,’ Varandas said.
Amorim has won five trophies with Sporting since joining in 2020 and has a highly impressive record.
He has won two Primeira Liga titles, two Taca de Liga trophies and one Candido de Oliveira Super Cup.
In his 237 games with the Portuguese giants he has won 170 games – a staggering 72% win rate.
