Prince Harry is reportedly unhappy with his wife, Meghan Markle, using their children to promote her lifestyle brand, As Ever.
According to royal editor Matt Wilkinson, there is a disagreement between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on how much of their children’s lives should be shared on social media. While Harry is said to prefer keeping their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, out of the public eye, Meghan, who grew up in California, allegedly embraces a more open approach.
Wilkinson revealed on a recent episode of A Right Royal Podcast that Harry feels protective of their privacy, particularly when they venture outside of their Montecito home, fearing that the media would swarm to photograph their children. “He’s got this idea that if he takes them outside of Montecito, that there is a hoard of us out there trying to take photos of his kids,” Wilkinson said.
In contrast, Meghan, who has expressed her desire for a “California-style lifestyle,” reportedly doesn’t want to hide her children away from the public eye. While she has been careful not to show their faces, she has used their presence to promote her brand as a mother and homemaker, which has raised concerns for Harry. Wilkinson suggested that the Duke of Sussex is likely “not overly happy” about this.
Over recent months, Meghan has shared more glimpses of Archie and Lilibet, particularly in the context of her brand. She posted a Valentine’s Day video in which the kids made desserts, and in March, she shared a photo of her daughter and Harry on a boat. A few weeks later, she released a garden photo of the children as part of an As Ever promotional shot. However, despite the increased visibility of the children on social media, they did not appear in Meghan’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, although Harry made a brief cameo.
Representatives for Harry and Meghan have not responded to requests for comment regarding the matter.
