Roxolana Ridel shows off the curvaceous Zero Suit Samus' two-piece costume during cosplay

Samus is one of the most iconic characters in gaming. By accomplishing certain perquisites during a playthrough of the first Metroid game back when it was released in 1986 in Japan and 1987 in North America, it was revealed that Samus was actually a female.

While this can be difficult to discern while she’s donning her Power Suit armor, it’s far more apparent when she’s in her Zero Suit outfit. Needless to say, the first time Zero Suit Samus was playable was in Metroid: Zero Mission back in 2004.

Though Zero Suit Samus was far weaker than her Power Suit incarnation in Metroid: Zero Mission, she tends to be a strong character in the Super Smash Bros. series. Funnily enough, Zero Suit Samus has been a better character than Power Suit Samus tier-wise in every official Super Smash Bros. title in which both characters appeared in thus far.

As such, Zero Suit Samus has become an extremely popular character among cosplayers throughout the years. We recently took notice of Roxolana Ridel’s Instagram page in which she has several shots of her Zero Suit Samus cosplay.

Uniquely, Roxolana Ridel has also cosplayed as Zero Suit Samus in her two-piece version. This has Zero Suit Samus in a more casual, though more revealing, appearance. This version of Zero Suit Samus was playable in Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

According to Masahiro Sakurai, this costume was almost cut from Super Smash Bros. 4 due to time constraints. However, it was thanks to the determination of a certain female designer that the costume ended up being completed in time for the game’s launch on September 13, 2014 (for the 3DS version).

“Looking at the number of days we have left for development, it would be an impossible task to create this,” said Sakurai about the costume when it was revealed during the daily pic of the day for Super Smash Bros. 4. “That’s what I told my staff. But thanks to the determination of her female designer, these Zero Suit outfits got completed in time. From the ending of Metroid: Zero Mission, here’s Samus in shorts!”

It seems that Roxolana Ridel has elected to wear a more revealing version of this two-piece costume. It’s unlikely we’ll ever see Samus going this casual in an official Nintendo game.

Additionally, there are more shots of Roxolana Ridel as Zero Suit Samus while she appears to be tied up by a rope of unique properties. Knowing Samus, however, she’d probably escape this type of situation before too long.

Of course, Roxolana Ridel has also made sure to cosplay as the original one-piece costume that Zero Suit Samus is known for. In particular, she’s wearing a formfitting latex version of the costume.
