Ronaldo Sets Two New Records In Saudi Arabia

Ronaldo Celebrates Against Al-Ittihad

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to help Al Nassr to a 4-2 victory over rivals Al-Ittihad on Monday night to set the record for the most goals scored in a Saudi Pro League season.

The brace took Ronaldo’s tally to 35 goals in 31 matches in the league to break Abderrazak Hamdallah’s record of 34 goals in the 2018-19 season.

The 39-year-old opened the scoring for Al Nassr on the stroke of halftime before adding the second goal in the 69th minute to continue his impressive goalscoring performances.

Ronaldo has now scored 64 goals in 69 appearances for Al Nassr since joining the club in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United.

However, Al Nassr finished second in the Saudi Pro League with 82 points, 14 points behind champions Al-Hilal.

The Portuguese captain is still waiting for his first league title in the Middle East.

Ronaldo has now become the first-ever player to finish as top scorer in four different leagues, winning the awards in England, Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia.

He won the Premier League top scorer award in 2008 with 31 goals before moving to Real Madrid in 2009, where he won the highest goal scorer award three times.

In Italy, he finished as the top scorer in the 2020-21 season with 29 goals in 33 Serie A matches.

Ronaldo is expected to lead his Portugal teammates to the 2024 European Championship in Germany. The competition starts on June 14.

The Selecao will open their campaign against Czech Republic on June 18.
