We’re now just over a month away from the release of the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 that’ll bring back eight classic titles for modern systems.
It appears that some creators have gotten early access to the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 and are now sharing what is (and seemingly isn’t) available in the compilation.
Tyrant was among those who have the game ahead of launch, and he made a pretty interesting discovery that’ll have a big impact on hardcore players.
He reports that roll cancels will not be available to use in Capcom vs. SNK 2 in the game’s online ranked mode in the collection.
Roll cancel is the famous bug that defines the high-level CvS2 meta in the competitive scene, and it’ll be interesting to see the reaction of the community to this decision.
Certain grooves in the game give characters access to a roll with invincibility frames, which can be canceled in the first two frames to give special moves those invincibility frames.
This removal is not from a bug fix exactly since roll cancels can still be used in offline modes, but rather the version of the game used.
Tyrant found the ranked mode of Capcom vs. SNK 2 uses the later EO release that made changes to the original including removing roll cancels.

How the competitive community will respond and whether that may change the CvS2 version used in tournaments remains to be seen, but online, it seems the only option is going to be EO.
The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 features Capcom vs. SNK, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Star Gladiator, Plasma Sword Power Stone, and Power Stone 2 on the compilation.
A title update was also just announced for the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection that adds a bunch of new features and quality of life enhancements to the game this week, and much of those are said to also be coming to the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 as well as the original collection.
The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is set to release on May 16 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
