A wheelbarrow pusher, identified as Peter, from Benue State, has been arrested by detectives from Nkpolu Police Division in Mile 3 Diobu, Rivers State, over the death of his female lover, identified as ‘Mummy’, from Ogoni extraction of Rivers State.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased, who deals on okro at Bishop Okoye line in Mile 3 Market, had visited Peter’s house, located behind a filling station at Ikwerre road opposite Bishop Okoye street, Mile 3 Diobu, on Thursday night, to pass the night.
However, tragedy struck early morning Friday, when Peter raised an alarm, which attracted his neighbours.
They discovered that Mummy had died, and the neighbours immediately alerted the police.
The police arrived at the scene, arrested Peter, and retrieved the corpse of the deceased. The cause of Mummy’s death is yet to be ascertained.
The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, saying that the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Mummy’s death.
Iringe-Koko said “the suspect has been arrested and investigation is ongoing”.
