Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising seems to have gotten itself off to a pretty strong start in its first month, and it’s almost time to receive their first new character post launch.
Cygames has now released the official character guide for Lucilius to show off what the king of fallen angels can do in battle with his unique mechanics.
Lucilius has his own Blade Level meter under his SBA Gauge. They explain his special skills have longer cooldown than average fighters, but using skills increases the Blade Level, which in turn reduces his cooldowns.
So basically, he begins the round as a slow starter but can presumably get crazy as the match goes on.
Iblis is the first skill shown as a multi-hit projectile with a wide range. The medium version doesn’t travel as far, but is great for blockstring pressure while the heavy is good for oki and the ultimate / EX travels fast and far.
Phosphorus uses the golden blade floating on Lucilius’ back to slash downwards on light, upwards on medium for combo extension, both for heavy and invincible by popping the ultimate version.
Iscariot is a dash attack with quick startup where the light causes a wall bounce in the corner while the medium, heavy and EX versions turn it into more of an advancing hit grab.
And finally, there’s Tessera that serves as a teleport that leaves him invulnerable during travel. The medium version adds a small explosion in front of him while the heavy warps above the opponent, and the ultimate one can of course lead to combo extensions.
His unique ability called Orbital Resonance restricts his movement, but allows him to freely control his blades while charging his Blade Level meter constantly.
Lucilius is looking like an interesting first addition to the game with some hints of like Beelzebub’s boss energy while offering something a bit different.
He’ll be joining the cast tomorrow, January 16, as the first member of Granblue’s Character Pass 1 followed by Nier Automata’s 2B next month.
We recommend checking out the full video below because the English voice actor here is clearly having a lot of fun with this.
