Restructuring remains only solution to Nigeria’s socio-economic crisis – Ohanaeze tells Tinubu

A Chieftain and former National Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Demian Okeke-Ogene has called on the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to begins his 2026 administrative agenda with the implication of restructuring to curbed the trending insecurity and other socio-economic challenges bedevilling Nigeria at the moment.

Ogene made the called at his Nanka residence in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026 while briefing journalists shortly after celebrating his 72nd birthday/42 wedding anniversaries and his 30-years of service to his Nanka community, Anambra State, South East region and the country at large.

He argued that the restructuring policy if fully implemented, will enable the six geopolitical zone that constitute the country to have control over their regional boundaries, hence curbed the unwanted activities of banditries, unknown gunmen, Boko Haram, herder/farmers clashes and other societal disturbances in the land.

According to him, with the high rate of killings in Northern part of Nigeria, including the recent attack at the Niger State market that claim over 30 lives despite US President, Donald trump’s threat, it’s a clear indication that there is a serious conspiracy against Nigeria unity.  It is clear indication that Nigeria has not got it full Independent, which is why I am still wearing on my Colonial clothes.

“Insecurity, poor economy, everything that affects the country today needs political solution and by this, I mean we should go back to the basics and allow regions to govern themselves respectively.

“We urgently need restructuring to protect the dignity of our dear nation. Our peace, unity and togetherness is under threat. The President should urgently address the issue of restructuring before the heat of the upcoming 2027 general elections, Ogene advocated.

The tripartite anniversaries also witnessed the presence of the State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Mr Peter Obi, Senator Victor Umeh, former Unizik VC, Prof Charles Esimone, Chief Demian Okoye, Dr Uzo Okonkwo, Chief J,C Nwakpadoro, Enr Emeka Ezenwanne, Chief Olisa Chinedu, High Chief Ndubueze Ezekoli and members of past president generals in the state.
