Resolutions from the Cross River State Executive Council meeting yesterday

After a closed door meeting of the Cross River State Executive Council which lasted for hours yesterday, precised over by His Excellency, Sir (Prof) Ben Ayade KSJi, Governor Cross River State, the media engaged the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Comr. Asu Okang who outlayed the resolutions as follows;

1-Memo for the approval for acceptance of offer of credit facility of 2Billion Naira from first bank and Keystone banks, being funds injected by the Central Bank of Nigeria-CBN to cushion the effect of the novel covid-19 pandemic across the country.
Council therefore mandated the ministry of Finance to take advantage of the window to enable Government complete the ongoing referral hospitals in the south, central and Northern senatorial districts and the calabar pharmaceutical industry.

2- Council approved the engagement of a consultant for the recovery of all illegal and excess deductions from CRSG accounts domiciled in some banks on a NO cost to Government, but at a 10percent pay on money recovered.

3-Council directed the Ministry of industry, to explore business opportunities as provided by the novel corona virus and hence,approved the sum of 1billion Naira for the procurement/importation of materials for the production Facial shield and Personal protective Equipments (PPE) at the calabar garment factory for onward distribution to schools across.

4- In addition, Council approved the sum of N945,000,000 for additional works at the cocoa processing plant Ikom,to ensure smooth take-off of operations in the next few months.

5- Council however stepped down a memo seeking approval for the lifting of embargo on logging in the state, on the grounds of sensitivity of the matter,non- conviction, and the absence of the generating MDA.

6- similarly, Council frowned seriously  at the continued burning up of PHED owned transmission cables as a result of the full voltage being transmitted from the Ayade 23 mega watts power plant, which has hindered full distribution of power supply to citizens. Council therefore mandated the ministry of power to find a speedy solution to the matter,to enable Cross Riverians enjoy steady power.

These and more were the high points of the Exco meeting held at the hallowed chambers of the Cross River State Executive council on the 13th may, 2020.
