Jmcrofts recently released a video where he discussed the 10 missing features from modern fighting games that he’d like to see more of. While certain fighting games do have some of these features, it would be nice if they were more common in modern AAA fighters.
During the video, the topic of requiring a PC benchmark came up. According to Jmcrofts, this feature would be especially handy for Tekken 8 considering how often the online experience is ruined by those with jumping into ranked with computers that can barely run the game.
It’s noted that Ultra Street Fighter 4 was actually ahead of its time with this regard. When hopping online for the first time in that game, a player on the PC had to pass the benchmark test or they wouldn’t be allowed to play.
To Tekken 8’s credit, however, that game does implement a few features that other fighters like Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1 could use. The replay takeover and replay tips features certainly would be handy for just about anyone looking to improve.
Aside from that, Jmcrofts talks about other nice features such as custom palettes, mid-match spectating, the ability to easily pause and resume matchmaking, special intro animations, and more.
