Report: Drew Brees could save Tom Brady's spot on Fox Sports

Earlier this week, a report suggested that former New Orleans Saints Drew Brees would not be returning to NBC Sports for the 2022 NFL season, but now rumors are that he will be Troy Aikman’s backup at Fox.… Will he have his future defined, here we tell you about it.

Tom Brady: “I’m not a sports machine”

Brees dismissed the report, suggesting he has not made a decision on his TV future. “Despite media speculation about my future this fall, I am currently undecided,” Brees tweeted.

“I may work for NBC, go back to playing football, focus on business and philanthropy, coach for the pickleball tour, the senior golf tour, coach my kids or all of the above. I’ll let you guys know.”

Brees would take Aikman’s place at Fox

While Brees isn’t ready to announce what he’ll do next, media insider Andrew Marchand named a possible landing spot. He thinks Brees is a “possibility” for FOX Sports.

“Drew Brees is a possibility for Fox Sports in the No. 2 spot. If Brees wants to have a great career as a broadcaster in the NFL, this is probably his best, maybe last, chance to do it,” Marchand said. “Fox won’t break the bank for him, but the opportunity will be there.”

What will Drew Brees be doing when the 2022 season begins?

The truth is, if he decides to return to the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, he must make a decision soon, as training camps have already started and he must get in shape, plus the coaches have to adjust the playbook for him.

In addition, it is already official that when he retires, Tom Brady has signed a 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox to be their star analyst, and at that time he could relegate Brees to the sidelines again after eliminating him in his last NFL game during the Buccaneers’ victory over the Saints in the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs in January 2021.
