Erik ten Hag’s days as Manchester United manager may be numbered as numerous reports of his dismissal keep making rounds on account of the terrible season the club is having.
The change in management at the top has also not helped Erik’s case as more often than not new owners opt for appointing a manager of their choice.
A fresh report from Football Insider now claims that Champions League winning manager Thomas Tuchel is keen on replacing ten Hag at Old Trafford should the chance arrive.
According to the report, the Bayern Munich tactician has allegedly told his friends that he is ‘very keen’ on the Manchester United job.
The former Chelsea manager will be leaving Bavaria come the end of the season as it was announced months ago after a run of not so positive results and Bayern losing grip of the Bundesliga for the first time in over a decade.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been restructuring United’s board and it is this new hierarchy that will be in charge of deciding ten Hag’s future at the club.
Erik’s reds are currently struggling in 6th place, a whole 11 points away from Aston Villa in 4th which makes Champions League football for next season a far cry.
That coupled with early exits in the EFL Cup as well as elimination from Champions League in the group stages may have done irreparable damage to the Dutch manager’s future.
An FA Cup win may however repair some of said damage although Man City in the final is not a favorable tie for a very inconsistent United side.
Tuchel comes with a very formidable cv with his most notable accomplishment being a Champions League medal as he got one over Pep Guardiola with Chelsea 3 years ago.
