Reina and Heihachi's movesets shown to be eerily similar during Tekken 8 comparison video

When Reina was first introduced as a newcomer in Tekken 8, it was hinted that she had some sort of connection to the Mishima family based on her fighting style. Although we now have the answer as to why Reina utilizes the Mishima Style Fighting Karate, we’re still going to avoid direct spoilers as it’s only been a couple of weeks since Tekken 8 was released.

Regardless, it feels like Reina is effectively the replacement for Heihachi Mishima considering that Heihachi was killed at the conclusion of Tekken 7’s story. Spike Rickey recently uploaded a video that compares the movesets of Tekken 8’s Reina directly with Tekken 7’s Heihachi.

For some of Heihachi’s old moves, Reina has to adopt a certain stance before gaining access to these attacks. This results in some of Reina’s attacks actually being a little slower than Heihahci’s

However, Reina is clearly able to demonstrate the advantages that her youth affords her compared to Heihachi, who was 75 at the time of his death. Reina is more likely to implement flips with some of attacks.

They’re both shown to have plenty of axe kicks and stomps that really inflict pain upon their opponents. Of course, the most notable similarity between the two is how they both are capable of using the Electric Wind God Fist.

Reina’s version of the Electric Wind God Fist is particularly noteworthy as it generates purple and yellow lightning, which no doubt inspires her nickname as the “Purple Lightning.”
