KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation:
Install refrigeration systems and cooling units specific to QSR environments, such as walk-in freezers, cold storage units, and ice makers.
Connect systems to electrical, mechanical, and plumbing lines, ensuring compliance with South African building and safety codes.
Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections and servicing of refrigeration units to prevent breakdowns and maintain optimal performance.
Ensure all equipment complies with food safety regulations (HACCP standards).
Repairs:
Diagnose and repair faults in refrigeration equipment to minimize downtime in restaurant operations.
Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to avoid service interruptions.
Compliance and Safety:
Handle refrigerants according to SANS 10147 standards and SAQCC Gas regulations.
Ensure refrigeration systems meet South African food safety and environmental standards
Requirements
Education & Certifications:
Matric certificate (Grade 12).
National Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (NQF Level 3 or higher).
Registration with SAQCC Gas as a refrigeration practitioner.
Valid driver’s license.
Experience:
At least 2 – 3 years of experience in refrigeration, preferably in the QSR or hospitality industry.
Familiarity with the specific refrigeration systems used in QSR kitchens, such as under-counter chillers, blast freezers, and beverage cooling systems.
