Pickler remained hidden from the public eye for quite some time after Jacobs’ death. She’d already taken a step back from her role as the midday talent on SiriusXM’s contemporary country channel, The Highway, in April 2023. It wasn’t until she felt ready that she finally broke her silence.
She shared a profound lesson her husband had taught her in a statement to People on August 17. “In a crisis, if you’re unsure of what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,’” she quoted him. The 37-year-old decided to follow this advice.
Pickler expressed her gratitude for the support she’s received. It’s touched her deeply, she said, helping her navigate through the darkest period of her life. “Many of you have told me you’re praying for me. Know that you’re in my prayers too,” she added.
In September, a celebration of life was held for Jacobs at Franklin First UMC. His family spoke to People about the event. “This celebration was a long time coming,” they admitted. The shock of his passing required time to process, and they needed to adjust to life without their beloved son.
