Today’s Street Fighter 6 announcement was a big one as we finally got to see trailers and some gameplay footage for the final three starting roster members: Cammy, Zangief, and Lily.

Is Capcom keeping the streak of stellar SF6 reveals alive, or have they finally dropped the ball in some way or another? Catalyst and I deep dive into the trailers of all three characters to pick them apart and rate them in our latest Talk and Block discussion.

Zangief is of particular interest here as he represents traditional grappler type characters… something fans have had some pressing questions about ever since we learned the ins and outs of Street Fighter 6’s Drive System.

The reason for this is that the Drive System tends to help out with closing gaps and getting up in opponents’ faces while being at strong advantage, something grappler characters tend to be relatively bad at simply because once they’re up in your face, they’ve got massive advantages.

We’ll come right out now and say that Capcom didn’t exactly highlight Gief’s ability to get in with this trailer, and that’s probably because they want to delve into those particulars later on when they eventually showcase him more thoroughly. He does retain a handful of his iconic attacks (no green hand, sorry) and even has some direct homages to professional wrestlers The Rock, The Undertaker, and Goldberg.

Lily is a brand new Native American character, specifically from Mexico. Her design is very clearly inspired by T. Hawk, a character from the same tribe, but she looks like she’ll be fairly different than the old New Challenger.

She holds twin tomahawks that look like they give her a good bit of range with her normals, and she’s also got the ability to fly through the air with moves that heavily resemble Hawk’s Condor Dive, Condor Spire, and Tomahawk Buster. What’s more, she has a command grab, making her appear extremely versatile.

Cammy White has been one of the most anticipated Street Fighter 6 characters to date, and though she’s got a brand new visual design she’s also bringing back a bunch of her trademark maneuvers. She looks fast and often airborne, and has a handful of interesting callbacks to older appearances.

We share our thoughts, reactions, and overall grades for all three of these newcomers in the full video below. We’d greatly appreciate a like, subscription, and comment over on YouTube Channel so we can hear what you think as well.
