It’s wild to think that Lupe Fiasco’s historically memorable exhibition against BST|Daigo Umehara in Street Fighter 5 went down almost 7 years ago, and the rapper still certainly loves fighting games.
Top SF5 player RobTV recently got to live one of his personal dreams when Mr. Fiasco gave him and the fighting game community a special shoutout on the concert stage this past weekend.
“We love every single one of y’all,” said Lupe at the close of his Los Angeles, California show. “RobTV what up? Tasty Steve what up? The whole FGC what up?”
It sounds like Rob’s partner may have had a hand in tipping the rapper off to their attendance since she originally surprised him with VIP tickets, and she also recorded his ecstatic reaction for an extra special memento — though be warned Rob doesn’t hold back on NSFW language.
“What the ****!” yelled RobTV after hearing his name called out. “My man shouted me out. Whoa, ain’t no way!”
All from my girl surprising me with tickets. How can I one-up this lmao https://t.co/PdnjFUeuIn

This seems to have meant so much to the top Karin player since he apparently dedicated his Myspace name to Lupe Fiasco back when he was growing up according to his tweets as well as The Cool album being important to his adolescence.
We unfortunately don’t have footage of Tasty Steve’s reaction to the event, but we’re sure he was probably shaking everyone around him.

It’s just nice to see how much gestures like this can make someone’s day / week / year and how connected we all are for our love of fighting games.
Maybe we’ll get to see Daigo come back for his revenge against Lupe in Street Fighter 6.
