Ramadan: ACTDA boss distributes free meals to Muslim community in Awka

The Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Hon Ossy Onuko, has distributed free meal to Muslims community in Awka, the Anambra State Capital.

The distribution took place at the Central Mosque in Awka, on Friday, shortly after the 7PM prayer.

Addressing the Muslim community, Onuko, said the gesture aimed to assis some of the vulnerable muslims living within the Awka Territory during the holy month of Ramadan, particularly amid the economic challenges in Nigeria.

He revealed that the free Ramadan meals included rice and stew with beef, cash and plenty of fruit drinks which are individually packaged for each fasting muslim.

According to him, “This gesture was designed to ensure that the vulnerable muslims have food for breaking their fast and to know that the present government of governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo cares for anyone living in Anambra State irrespective of tribe, ethic and religion background.

“It reflects our commitment to supporting the welfare needs of muslims in Anambra and we believe that the free feeding gesture brings joy and confident to your hearts,” he asked.

The ACTDA boss used the event to solicit support for governor Soludo’s reelection bid ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state.

He also urged them to sustained the already existing peace and unity in the city.

In his respond on behalf of the muslims community, the state chairman of Anambra Northern Youth Development Association,, Alahaji Musa Bello Shelleng, while appreciating Hon Onuko for the kind heart, passed vote of confidence in governor Soludo’s administration.

Shelleng noted that what the governor has done within a space of three years in office, particularly, the free education and free antenatal for pregnant women in which their children and women are also beneficiaries have won their hearts to support and ensure that he (Soludo) emerges 100/100 in the November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state.

He however, appeal to the governor to build an Hausa market in the state capital.
