Queens Can Vote Initiative joins others to advocate for PVC collection by locals

Nigerian Beauty Queens are constantly changing the narratives as they continue to prove that there’s more to being a Beauty Queen than the glitz and glamour.

The Queens Can Vote Initiative joined other partners in Calabar, Cross River State to influence Cross Riverians to collect their permanent voter cards and vote. At the onset of the rally, the Executive Director Queen Edidiong Umoh Ebigwai (aka Queen Eddy) said: “Our PVC is our voice, which we must use to change the Nigerian narrative. Go and collect your PVC and Vote!” Along with her were five other Beauty Queens: Katungi Mbey (Onor Ejagham Queen 2022), Godslove Edim (Miss Akachak 2021), Patience Ekwere (Miss Akachak 2022), Angelica Kenwood (Miss Cross River Iconic Queen 2022), and Peace Adoga (Onor Ejagham Queen 2022 – 1st Runner Up).

Prior to the rally, the Beauty Queen who had served in various pageant capacities was interviewed on the Hit Breakfast Show at Hit Fm Calabar, with a focus on women’s participation in politics, election, and voting.

She explained that Queens Can Vote Initiative (QCVi) is a platform to mobilize a critical mass of Pageant Royalties (Ex and Reigning Beauty Queens, Kings, and Pageant Models) to actively participate in the election and influence others to do the same. She emphasized the importance of voting to select the right leaders who will lead the country rightly and set favourable policies to foster economic growth and development, inclusiveness, and promotes good governance. Queen Eddy illustrated the negative effect of not voting on the common man. She ended by encouraging Nigerians to be intentional about choosing a suitable candidate and voting rightly on Election Day.

Queen Eddy is the first Academic Beauty Queen Nigeria who emerged in 2017. She also won the title of the Next Rated International Model in 2021. She is an outstanding and award-winning Beauty Queen who is working to raise a generation of purpose and impact-driven beauty royalties.
