After years on the sidelines, the queen of Guilty Gear is finally about to return, and hopefully she’ll be worth the wait.
Arc System Works just dropped the official starter guide and move list for Queen Dizzy ahead of her release in Guilty Gear Strive, and she inherited a bit more from her mother it seems.
Some moves like I Used This to Catch Fish (yes they kept the old special names) put the opponent into a frozen state that immobilizes them for a few seconds or until they’re hit and causes heavier knockback.
She can also combine that with her Ice Field to make the ground slippery when the enemy tries to move or is knocked down.
The queen has retained a good chunk of her specials from Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 including For Roasting Chestnuts and We Talked a lot Together too, but she’s also missing others like For Searing Cod, I Used This to Pick Fruit, We Fought a lot Together, For Putting out the Light, The Light was so Small in the Beginning, Please Leave me Alone and What Happens When I’m too Alone.
To help make up for that, ArcSys is also giving her a couple of technically new tools that should be quite interesting.
Dizzy has fully gained the Michael Sword special that once belonged to Justice.
Like mother, like daughter it seems
Technically, she could already use this move, but only the EX version of Dizzy in the Guilty Gear XX games, which looked different — so this one is closer to her gear mother’s ability.
What even more intriguing and potentially quite scary, however, is Dizzy’s previously boss-only version attack in Wings of Light can now be used as a regular special.
Wing of Light constantly drains the enemies health even through blocking along with her own Tension Gauge until it runs out, and it’s shown doing quite a huge chunk of damage if she’s got a lot of meter to burn.
But the downside of the move is setting it up since it seems to take a full around 10 seconds to activate before they start sucking health away.
Michael Sword is a big slashing attack that’s quick on the Slash version while the Heavy Slash version is slower on startup but appears to basically hit from full screen.
Dizzy also retains Imperial Ray and Gamma Ray as her Overdrive attacks with the latter still taking 100% Tension to activate.
The startup does faster than before and is shown to take off over half of Sol’s health in one shot.
Dizzy is slated to release as the first new DLC character of Strive Season 4 on October 31, and she’ll be accompanied by a big balance update to the rest of the roster too.
