The first guest fighter to ever join the main line Street Fighter series has been mostly a big hit with fans. SNK’s own Terry Bogard of Fatal Fury and King of Fighters fame has entered the ring, and overall, he’s a fantastic addition to the Street Fighter 6 roster.
Despite how powerful he looked in his gameplay trailer, though, it seems the one main talking point people have about him right now is whether or not he’s actually top tier. One of the best players in the world currently, FLY|Punk, has released a new video on YouTube that not only features him playing the new fighter in tournament, but also delves into his thoughts on Terry in Street Fighter 6.
Punk’s new video kicks off with his recent run through the Tampa Never Sleeps weekly event that took place the day after Terry was released. Funny enough, though Punk didn’t win that event, he did actually go on to win the Duel Academy: Street Fighter 6 #60 event with Terry recently.
In this video, though, we get to see some of Punk’s early experiences with Terry and how he started putting things together. Toward the end of it, Punk shares his thoughts regarding Terry and the Street Fighter 6 tier list.
“In my opinion, I think Terry is not a bad character,” Punk began. “I think he’s like somewhere in the middle. Could be mid-high, could be right in the middle.”
He goes on to explain that he feels there’s a lot of optimizations that still have yet to be made with Terry’s gameplay, a sentiment several prominent figures in the community have shared.
Punk believes that in about a month’s time we should be seeing Terry more at his real potential, and he makes mention of the sheer number of options he has for combo routes and the many opportunities for optimizing.
Overall, Punk feels that Terry is pretty good and a fun character here in Street Fighter 6.
If you’d like to know what Punk feels is Terry’s biggest weakness right now, be sure to check out his video below. Punk’s thoughts on Terry begin at about 30:30 in the video.
