Mortal Kombat 1 has received quite a bit of pushback and criticism for its monetization practices, so its makers have seemingly gone back and made some adjustments for their upcoming plans.
Warner Bros. Games has now revealed the total cost of their upcoming Seasonal Fatality Bundle for MK1 as well as when it’ll become available.
The company released a statement to IGN confirming the total cost of the Fatality bundle will be 1,200 Dragon Crystals, and since the least amount you can actually purchase in game is 1,250 crystals for $10, that’s basically the cost for the odd DLC.
That’s not too surprising considering it’s the same price as the original Halloween Fatality release and was previously confirmed players who purchased that would get the bundle for no additional charge.
It’ll include that jack o’ lantern finisher as well as the turkey-themed one for Thanksgiving upon release plus one more for the Winter season at a later time.
WB will be adding the Fatality bundle to MK1 this Friday, November 17 seemingly across all platforms.
This game is the first time WB and NetherRealm have made premium Fatalities for the series, which hasn’t exactly been well received by the playerbase especially for that price.
The bundle is still $2 more expensive than the actual new DLC character in Omni-Man, who himself comes with two Fatalities of his own.
A similarly priced premium skin was offered back in the Mortal Kombat X days, but that at least had its proceeds go towards directly funding the Mortal Kombat Pro Kompetition prize pool.
We don’t know what their original plans would have been, but it’s crazy to think Warner may have been asking for $30 of its players for 3 Fatalities if they were all going to be individual releases.
