West Ham United has set their sights on Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, FootballTransfers reports, amid the growing uncertainty over Vladimir Coufal’s future at the club.
The Irons had previously shown interest in Wan-Bissaka during the summer transfer window. However, their plans were disrupted by Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, who opted to retain the player after his impressive performances in the latter half of the previous season.
Reports indicate that West Ham might revisit their interest in Wan-Bissaka when the January transfer window opens, despite Crystal Palace, his former team, also being interested.
It’s believed that Wan-Bissaka finds the prospect of joining West Ham more appealing than returning to Crystal Palace, where he spent three years.
Recently, Wan-Bissaka was absent from Manchester United’s squad in their 1-0 victory over Luton Town. This was despite him making a comeback to the team following a hamstring injury.
Wan-Bissaka had completed full matches against Fulham and Copenhagen in the previous week. Explaining his absence, Erik ten Hag stated to MUTV, “Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] is ill, so we have to make a change, but that’s how it is. They know the rules and the principles. Now they have to show it on the pitch.”
