Manchester United are set to have competition from another top English club in the race for Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.
Tel emerged as a last minute target for United as the 19-year-old announced his desire to leave the German giants by deadline day next week.
After Bayern’s 3-1 win over Slovan Bratislava where they secured a slot in the Champions League knock-out stage, the winger was seen engaging with the fans, bidding farewell to the club’s supporters.
The Red Devils are reportedly only considering a loan move for Tel if they manage to dispatch Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho this month.
However, this is becoming increasingly unlikely unless a deadline day swoop takes place.
Napoli have made their stand on Garnacho clear, refusing to go over £42 million for the Argentine, whilst Rashford’s wages have led most clubs to back away from the 27-year-old.
That said, recent reports have suggested that Rashford could be on his way to Turkey, with Galatasaray close to securing a loan deal for the star, paying his wages in full.
If the move does get across the line, United could well move for Mathys Tel, however they’ll have to act quick to beat another top Premier League club.

Spurs enter the race for Mathys Tel
Florian Plettenberg has now reported that United will face competition from Spurs who are also hoping to land the wantaway attacker.
Spurs are currently sat in 15th place in the Premier League, three places and five points below United.
However, with Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Dominic Solanke and Richarlison all out injured, the London-based side are limited in attacking options right now.
Tel has routinely been used as a striker and as a left-winger, making him a versatile option to cover multiple attacking roles.
Whilst it’s not yet confirmed if Spurs have engaged with Bayern or Tel’s representatives, United appear to be one step ahead having spoken to Tel’s agent.
However, the French attacker’s move to United still remains highly dependant on Garnacho or Rashford leaving the club.
