Joe Aribo scored a terrific solo goal as Southampton fell to a 2-1 defeat against Villarreal in their final pre-season game at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Yeremy Pino put Villarreal ahead with a brilliant header in the first half.
Aribo equalised with a sumptuous strike in the 64th minute.
The midfielder received the ball midway inside his own half, and surged into the opposition territory, jinked inside and then back outside to wriggle away from two, before turning Pau Torres and then fired majestically into the net.
His international teammate, Samuel Chukwueze also featured for Villarreal in the friendly.
Chukwueze replaced Pino in the 62nd minute.
Aribo joined Southampton from Scottish Premiership club, Rangers earlier this month.
