Although there hasn’t been a new entry in the series for almost 25 years, a lot of people still care about Power Stone, and they’re certainly happy to see it back in any form.
No one was perhaps more excited than Kenny “Unrooolie” judging by his reaction to the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 announcement, and the massive fan recently crafted an in-depth tier list for Power Stone 2 as part of his celebrations.
Starting out, Unrooolie goes through the cast’s move lists and how they apply in battle to describe what makes them good or bad as someone who’s played the game for over 20 years.
Power Stone stands out among Capcom’s collection as a different style of arena fighter with up to four players and weapons / items to pick up.
A lot of what makes up his idea of strong characters is how good their projectiles are as well as their Supers followed by mobility.
According to Kenny’s rankings, there’s two characters strong enough to make the S tier category though one stands above all the rest.
Ayame gets the number one spot because she apparently has the best projectile and Super options in the game
Gunrock is right behind her, however, with Unrooolie pointing towards his big damage output in general as well as his similar strengths to Ayame.
Rouge takes the third spot with amazing mobility and good Supers, but he says her bad projectiles make her lose out to the ones above her.
There’s a total of four fighters who ended up in C tier that apparently struggle to keep up even with their Supers while the two extra characters are at the very bottom in D.
Like Kenny says at the end, however, you shouldn’t put too much stock in these rankings when picking up the game and just trying to have some fun with the unique experience Power Stone has to offer.
It is still interesting to see how someone who’s continued to put the time into the game breaks it down now after more than two decades.
