POLITICAL POEM: The Koboko Terror -By David Odey

War! War everywhere
The drum of war is loud and clear
The dust are gathering to gag us in
Our adversaries are selectively pursued
The path we must tread is a muddled
This war is not primarily in our interest

The sun sets no more on our shores
Or who cares to check in time of strife
It is smoked darkness from the fear and terror
The famine in the land is secondary to this campaign
Snuffed out on all side we must live and die a wreck
Our story must be told in the numbers of Casualty

It is a war against corruption
Some by blind choice shall soon come to their doom, others by cruel destiny
The epitaph of history shall read on ones tombstone, collateral damage on another, a necessary evil.
Salvation may therefore come only to them irrespective of creed or leaning who join forces with the ‘torch bearer’ in these troubled days
Alas the wailing wailers must continue to sit round yet another table to take in new shockwaves
These Architects of the new political order are the real profiteers

This is Nigeria
Our unity like unto a trigger cage
The squeeze may not be as consequential
The aim is everything.
