The Polish Orthodox Church recently made a donation to the Association of People Suffering from Epilepsy that will be used towards the purchase of medical equipment.
Yesterday, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Poland received a letter from Tadeusz Zaborski, president of the association’s board, thanking him for the support, the Polish Church reports.
The funds were raised through collections from the Church administration, parishes, and monasteries. According to Zaborski, the entirety of the donation will be used to purchase specialized medical equipment for public health facilities, including computerized EEG devices, videometry, and more, and to provide direct assistance to the poorest patients and their families through social rehabilitation, integration, material support, emergency assistance for purchasing medicine, clothing, food, fuel, and so on.
The association helps 400,000 people with epilepsy across the country. It relies on such donations and collections, as it does not receive any governmental assistance.
“We highly value the moral and financial support provided to us by the Orthodox Church in Poland,” the association president writes.
“We sincerely thank you for trusting our nationwide public benefit organization,” Zaborski writes.
