A joint security team comprising the police, military, operatives of the Department of State Services, and Anambra State Vigilante has dislodged a criminal camp at Ogbunka in Anambra State.
According to a release by the state police public relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Saturday, the team engaged the suspected criminals in a six-hour gun battle before subduing them.
He stated that, “The security team, due to its superior firepower, diffused some explosives used as shields on the camp by the hoodlums. The team also recovered a lot of relief materials, like pots, foodstuffs, and parts of dismembered suspected stolen vehicles, even as some of the criminals escaped with various degrees of bullet injuries inflicted on them.”
He said the operatives had taken over the area to sustain security dominance aimed at addressing any untoward situation that might arise and “to possibly arrest the fleeing suspects.”
The Anambra State Police Command, in the release, assured, on behalf of other security agencies, of adequate security in all parts of the state. It also solicited credible information on security matters from the citizens.
