Two suspected armed robbers were arrested after a gun battle with police officers in the Royal Court Estate, Jahi II, Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said the suspects had terrorised the area before their arrest in the early hours of Thursday, March 27, 2025.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed the development in a statement on Sunday.
She revealed that operatives from the Mabushi Division responded to a distress call about an ongoing robbery, which led to a confrontation with the suspects.
Adeh stated, “On 27th March 2025 at about 3:20 a.m., operatives of the Mabushi Division responded swiftly to a distress call reporting ongoing robbery at Royal Court Estate, Jahi II.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the Police operatives were engaged in a gun duel by the hoodlums.
“However, the suspects were overpowered by the superior firepower of the Police and attempted to flee with gunshot injuries.
“A hot pursuit ensued, leading to the arrest of two suspects—Rabiu Jubril and Ibrahim Isa, both residents of Tipper Garage, Jahi”.
Following the arrest, several items were recovered from the suspects, including:
- Two locally made firearms
- Three suspected stolen vehicles:
•Black Toyota Matrix (Reg. No. NBS 348 CP)
•Black Toyota Venza (Reg. No. ABJ 105 AV)
•Grey Lexus IS350 (Reg. No. RSH 295 CB) - Electronic devices, including:
•Two MacBook Pro laptops
•One Lenovo laptop
•One iPad
•One PS4 gaming console
•One Canon IP1224 camera
•One drone camera
Adeh said the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
