Police Fatally Shoot Man in East Flatbush – BROOKLYN

May 12, 2024 BROOKLYN, New York – Police shoot and kill a man early Sunday who officials say was armed and pointing a gun at another person, in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.

According to police, just after 1 a.m., a pair of uniformed NYPD officers and a sergeant were on patrol in a marked police vehicle near East 52nd Street & Church Avenue when officers encountered a man pointing a gun at another individual.

Police quickly exited their vehicle and gave orders for the man to drop his gun. The man with the weapon then attempted to run from officers but was tased and monetarily restrained. With a firearm still in hand, officers gave multiple commands to drop the weapon, and that when the man was shot by officers, cops said.

The male was seriously wounded and EMS administered chest compressions as they transported the man shot by police to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to police.

The NYPD is investigating an additional male who later self transported to an area hospital to report a graze wound that he said was possibly from the nearby police shooting, according to NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey.
