Police break silent over the killing of Officers, attacks on Stations in Akwa Ibom

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has on Monday, May 10, 2021, issued a press statement over the recent attacks on its stations and the subsequent killings of officers in Akwa Ibom State.

In the statement signed by SP Odiko MacDoN, Police Public Relations Officer with reference number: AZ:5300/AIS/PPRD/VOL.6/26 on behalf of the Commissioner Of Police, two outposts were attacked with vehicles burnt down while a Sergeant was killed in two local government areas of Akwa Ibom State.

The statement titled ‘ANOTHER UNPROVOKED ATTACK ON POLICE POSTS’, read thus:

“Yesterday, the Command received information that two of its OUTPOSTS, which weren’t in operational use, located at Mkpatak in Essien Udim and Ikot Odon in Abak LGAs were attacked by hoodlums.

“At Ikot Odon, a scrap vehicle parked outside and a motorcycle inside were burnt, but the building wasn’t razed down while at Mkpatak, the Command commends the swift response from Youths of the Community who quickly put out the fire meant to set the building ablaze, a little part of it was however affected.

“Unfortunately, a Personnel of the Police Force, one Sgt. Obadia Eli, attached to Mopol 57 Ukana, who was on his way to his beat was accosted and killed.

“In spite of all this, the Command remains undaunted and committed to the provision of security in all parts of Akwa Ibom State as it has emplaced strategies to address the present challenges and wishes to call on Residents of good conscience to continue to partner with the Police to end the senseless destruction of lives and properties in the State.

“This time shall pass”, the statement read.
