POCO X5 and X5 Pro: design renders leave nothing to imagination

POCO is about to make its big move in global markets with the launch of the POCO X5 series. The lineup brings the POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro and the two devices will launch at the same time. We’ve been extensive leaks revealing the two phones’ specifications. Today, we finally have renders that confirm the design of these two devices. As speculated, the POCO X5 Pro stands as a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. The vanilla is a Redmi Note 12 5G with modified (for good) specifications. Thanks to these renders, we have a good glimpse of the two phones, and there is not much left to the imagination.

POCO X5 and X5 Pro design renders are finally here

The POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro will come with a center-aligned punch-hole design. The vanilla has a slightly-curved rear design, but we believe it’s just a 2.5D glass effect. The POCO X5 Pro has flatter edges. Moving around to the back, both devices bring POCO’s signature big black rectangle on the top. The rectangle houses the camera island and the POCO logo (because you need to remember this is a POCO phone, right?). Both handsets will bring a triple-camera setup.

The leaked renders confirm the POCO X5 will come in grey and green color options. Meanwhile, the Pro will arrive in Black, Cyan, and POCO Yellow. The latter is a signature color for recent POCO handsets, and there is even a yellow accent for the power button. Apparently, this color option also has a black frame which gives it a unique look. Moreover, it seems that the Blue variant will be very close to the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed in terms of design. Instead of the big black, we have a different tone of blue that fits the color in a harmonic way.

Worth noting, that in both phones, the power button will double as a fingerprint scanner.

Alleged specs

According to the leaks, the two POCO X5 series phones will come with AMOLED screens with 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. The vanilla X5 will bring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G, that’s the biggest change over the Redmi Note 12 5G. Although the SD695 is older than the SD 4 Gen 1 on the vanilla Note 12, we have to agree that the former figures as a better offering. In fact, this very SoC came inside the POCO X4 Pro 5G last year. The Pro, on the other hand, brings the Snapdragon 778G. It’s a powerful chipset for the mid-range segment with four ARM Cortex-A78 cores and an Adreno 642L GPU.

The vanilla POCO X5 will bring a 48 MP main camera, 8 MP ultrawide, and a decorative 2 MP sensor of some sort. The Pro version will pack the 108 MP main camera, 8 MP ultrawide, and the same 2 MP shooter. For selfies, the former has a 13 MP camera and the latter gets a 16 MP shooter, respectively.

Other specs include IR Blaster, NFC, Stereo Speakers, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The POCO X5 will pack a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The Pro gets faster 67W charging. Besides the performance, the POCO X5 Pro is not a massive upgrade.

The entire list of specs is available thanks to a European retailer that spilled the beans. We don’t know exactly when the phones will launch, but we expect them for the first weeks of February.
