The Pleasant Valley High School football team bounced back from its loss in Almond Bowl 52 and defeated Shasta High 10-0 Friday night in Redding.
After a scoreless first quarter, PV’s Quinntyn Thomas-Brass scored a 5-yard rushing touchdown with three minutes remaining in the second quarter for a 7-0 lead into halftime. With four minutes remaining in the third quarter PV’s Garrett Powell knocked in a field goal to give the Vikings a 10-0 lead, before both teams went scoreless in the fourth quarter.
PV (5-3, 2-1 Eastern Athletic League) plays next at 7 p.m. Friday at Red Bluff, before returning home to host Foothill at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 on senior night for the Vikings.
Orland 57, Las Plumas 20: Orland won its sixth straight game in a win against Las Plumas on Friday at Harrison Stadium in Oroville.
The Trojans led 14-10 after the first quarter and 26-17 at halftime, before outscoring the Thunderbirds 31-3 in the second half.

Gridley 41, Paradise 15: Gridley defeated Paradise on Friday night in Gridley. It was the sixth straight win for the Bulldogs, who started the season with two losses.
Paradise and Gridley were tied at 7-7 after the first quarter, but the Bulldogs outscored the Bobcats 14-0 in the second quarter, 6-0 in the third quarter and 14-8 in the fourth quarter.
Gridley had five rushing touchdowns and an interception returned for a touchdown.
Paradise’s Trenton Gibson had a 31-yard rushing touchdown, and Peyton Kerr had a 2-yard rushing touchdown.
Gridley (6-2, 3-0 BVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Las Plumas. Paradise (2-6, 0-3 BVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Oroville.
Winters 48, Durham 14: Durham lost Friday night in Winters. It was the fourth straight loss for the Trojans.

Hamilton 34, Biggs 28 (3OT): In a battle of the top two teams in the Mid-Valley League, Hamilton defeated Biggs in triple overtime Friday in Biggs.
The game was tied at 14-14 after three quarters. Hamilton passed for a touchdown with seven minutes to play, but could not convert a 2-point conversion. Biggs scored on a rushing touchdown with under a minute left in the fourth quarter, but a missed point-after kick attempt sent the game to overtime.
In the first overtime, both teams went scoreless. In the second overtime, Biggs scored on a rushing touchdown and had a a 2-point conversion to take a 28-20 lead, but the Braves passed for a touchdown and completed their own 2-point conversion to tie the game at 28-28.
Hamilton ended the game with a passing touchdown in triple overtime.

Corning 49, Oroville 13: Corning’s run game defeated Oroville on Friday night in Corning.
Corning’s Giovanni Gonzalez led all Corning rushers with 76 yards and a touchdown. Kanon Gregorio had 75 yards and two touchdowns, Julian Palos had 45 yards and one touchdown, and Ayden Thumler had rushing yards and one touchdown. As a team, the Cardinals ran for 302 yards and six touchdowns.

Cal State LA 1, Chico State 0: The Chico State men’s soccer team lost its first game of the regular season Friday in Los Angeles after beginning its season 10-0-3.
The Golden Eagles’ Neophytos Scottis scored a goal in the 27th minute on a header off the cross bar, on an assist by Aidan Wait.
The Golden Eagles outshot the Wildcats 11-6, but both teams were tied in shots on goal with three apiece. The Golden Eagles held the advantage in corner kicks at 6-3.
Wildcats goalkeeper Emanuel Padilla made two saves in the loss.
Chico State (10-1-3, 3-1-1 California Collegiate Athletic Association) plays next at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
College women’s soccer
Cal State LA 2, Chico State 0: The Chico State women’s soccer team lost its second straight CCAA game Friday in LA.
Cal State LA’s Erin Schrock scored her second goal of the season in the eighth minute on an assist from Alice Hernandez. LA’s Shelby Melin scored her fourth goal of the season in the 36th minute on an assist from Liliana Gonzalez. Neither team could score in the second half.
The Wildcats outshot the Golden Eagles 16-13, but both teams were tied at 6-6 in shots on goal.
Chico State goalkeeper Emma Hofmann made three saves.

Cal State San Bernardino 3, Chico State 0: Chico State lost its seventh straight match Friday in Chico. The Coyotes defeated the Wildcats 25-19, 25-21, 25-11.
Kassandra Nall led the Wildcats with 11 kills, Zo DiNardo had five kills and 14 digs, Jessie Camarillo had two aces, Brook Ono had 22 assists and seven digs, and Lexi Carpenter had 11 digs.
