Manchester United have managed to pull off an incredible signing in the form of Sekou Kone.
The Malian international was officially unveiled today as a United player, with the deal for the midfielder valuing at £1 million.
The 18-year-old impressed a number of top tier scouts thanks to his performances at the Under-17s FIFA World Cup in Indonesia last year. Kone was reported as an anchor in the Mali Under-17s squad, helping the side to achieve a third place finish.
Whilst it was announced by the club that the defensive midfielder would be moving to the academy initially as he adjusts to life in England, it’s now been reported that he is seen as a first team player.
Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News has reported that Kone will initially train with Under-18s to get used to his move to the UK, but his first appearance for club is expected to be with the Under-21s, eventually transitioning into the first team squad.
This is extremely exciting news, highlighting the expectations United have on the 18-year-old. No doubt fans of The Red Devils are very keen to see the defensive midfielder in action to see the potential he has to offer.
