Job Description
Project Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop detailed project schedules using software like Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
- Break down the scope of work into manageable tasks and allocate resources.
- Define project milestones, timelines, and deliverables.
- Create baseline schedules and monitor progress against them.
Coordination and Communication:
- Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and stakeholders to gather project requirements and inputs.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials.
- Facilitate communication between teams to resolve planning and scheduling issues.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track project progress and performance through regular site visits and updates.
- Generate progress reports, dashboards, and forecasts for stakeholders.
- Identify potential delays and suggest mitigation strategies.
Resource Management:
- Plan and allocate manpower, equipment, and materials efficiently.
- Identify resource shortages or surpluses and propose adjustments.
Risk Management:
- Analyze project risks related to timelines and resources.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential delays or challenges.
Cost and Budget Management:
- Align the project schedule with budget constraints.
- Work with cost controllers to ensure that project costs remain within approved limits.
Compliance and Quality Control:
- Ensure that project schedules align with contractual requirements and industry standards.
- Verify that all work complies with safety regulations and quality standards.
Change Management:
- Adjust schedules to accommodate changes in scope or unforeseen circumstances.
- Evaluate the impact of changes on project timelines and budgets.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of project schedules, progress updates, and changes.
- Prepare reports for audits and project reviews.
Training and Development:
- Provide guidance and training to junior planners or project team members on planning tools and techniques.
Skills and Qualifications
- Educational Background: A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in project planning software, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools. Strong analytical skills, and knowledge of construction methods.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
- Experience: Prior experience in construction or project planning is often required.
