The Pilot Club of Andalusia reported a strong finish to 2023 through two of its biggest events of the year during the first weekend of December.
The organization held its annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast Day on Saturday, Dec. 2, and followed up with its yearly Tour of Homes event on Sunday, Dec. 3. Pilot Club President Meredith Harlos felt it was a busy and successful weekend.
“The Pilot Club is very thankful to the community for their support of these two events as well as other endeavors throughout the year. We started cooking pancakes at 4 a.m. and served over 1,000 plates at our annual pancake and sausage breakfast. The event is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and this was an amazing turnout, especially with the rain. No one left the building hungry,” Harlos said.
According to Harlos, there were over 150 tickets sold for the Tour of Homes.
“We would like to thank the homeowners again for being a part of this event. The houses were beautiful. I would also like to say a special thank you to Pilot members Betty Davis and Nancy Robbins for heading up this event. We had a record-breaking number of tickets sold with over 150.”
The Pilot Club will use funds from the two events to put towards several projects.
“The money raised will go towards pick-me-ups for caregivers, fidget blankets, and Project Lifesaver. We will also use some of the money to sponsor campers and caregivers to attend the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) camp in April at Camp ASCCA. We are grateful to all the Compass Club and Anchor Club members who helped with these events. They are the future of the Pilot Club. A special thanks goes to Maggie Mash and Meg Shelnutt for working with these young adults and getting them involved in our Pilot Club events,” Harlos said.
Harlos also thanked all those who were sponsors for the two events and recognized her fellow Pilot Club members.
“We would not be successful without your help. I would also like to thank all of our pilots and ‘co’ pilots. None of this would be possible without all of your hard work and dedication. You are all truly a great example of how to ‘Do More, Care More, and Be More’ for our community,” she said.
The Pilot Club of Andalusia holds monthly meetings every fourth Monday at the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 22, 5:30 p.m., and anyone is welcome to attend.
